Year in Review: 2019

2019 has been an unexpectedly amazing year for us.

From finishing fulfillment of our Kickstarter through hitting 1 million views on Tik Tok, we’re absolutely humbled by the support of our growing community.

In that light, we’d like to share a few of our highlights from 2019.

We finished Kickstarter fulfillment

In 2018, we launched our first Kickstarter

After 6 months of handcrafting 30,000+ tokens, we delivered the last order in May.

Then, Dave fulfilled his promise and read the names of all backers aloud while being pelted with tokens.

We sponsored a panel at Katsucon

Katsucon is one of our favorite conventions and this year we finally had the opportunity to give back to the community by sponsoring a D&D panel by CautionNerds in February.

And we’ve been lucky enough to be invited back this year (Feb 2020) to produce our own panel on how to produce engaging tabletop experiences inexpensively. If you are attending Katsucon in 2020 look for “D&D Done Cheap by Tactical Tokens” on the schedule and guidebook app.

We received our first website order

In 2018, we launched a simple companion website for the Kickstarter.

In February, we handled our very first e-commerce sale on our own website.

We found a manufacturing partner

As fulfilling as handcrafting tokens is, we needed to find a scalable solution to meet the growing demands of our customers.

Luckily, we were able to find a manufacturer that produced our tokens in outstanding quality and ordered our first 1,000 tokens in July.

Just 6 months later, we placed an order for 10,000 more!

We joined the hype train on Tik Tok

Honestly, it’s put the fun back in marketing. In only a few months, we’ve managed to rack up over 111k likes and over 1M views on our Tik Tok videos.

Check out a few of our favorites from 2019:

We attended PAX Unplugged

Repping what can only be described as a walking tabletop, Dave attended PAX Unplugged in Philadelphia and was consistently mistaken for a sponsored installation.

We launched our new website

When we started, all we needed was a simple website to reflect the Kickstarter.

Just this month, we’ve launched our new store on better servers. We like it a lot and hope you do, too.

What’s in store for 2020

2019 was awesome and we’re planning for an even better 2020.

Retail is on the horizon! We’ll be looking to get official items on store shelves in nice packaging.

Cons cons cons. We’re trying to get table-space at PAX and other conventions across the US.

Another Kickstarter. We figured out how to manufacture and scale 1″ tokens this year. We also figured out an excellent process for manufacturing 2″, 3″, and 4″ tokens but we need some help getting them done at scale. Sign up for notifications.

Content! Tik Tok is just the beginning. Prepare for content coming to the blog, Youtube, Instagram, and rest. Maybe even a Podcast! Check out a preview of the content to come…

More products. Blank tokens were a big hit, but we haven’t forgotten about the printed art style of tokens. Expect some new variety packs and new artists joining the Tactical Team.

Thanks to everyone for your support! Cheers to the roaring 20’s ahead!

Special thanks to The DM Lair (our favorite DM) for his mention of our tokens!
