The cave entrance to the hidden temple is damp. A long dead Bard sits against a wall, his poetry speaks of a temple ravaged by Pirates long ago. The door is adorned with a carved dial, split into three rings. The top ring has a sun and moon. The canter ring has a ship and a sea monster. The bottom ring has choppy and calm waves. A plaque above the dial reads “Grant safe passage.” When the Party solves the riddle and locks the rings into place, the door creaks open and reveals the temple. They can venture inside, cautiously.
Things to Prepare:
- Solution: Sun, Ship and Calm Waters all need to be facing up on the dial.
- You can include something to increase the odds, like the room filling with water.
- Skill checks to be completed by the party to help with the puzzle.
- More of the Bard’s work, potentially hinting at clues for the puzzle.
On Success: The Old Temple opens up, allowing the Party to venture inside.
On Failure: The Party is locked out until they can figure out the solution to the puzzle.
Reward: They can search the old temple for riches, and maybe the Bard has some loot.
